This past week, we have been discussing how we can make our community feel safer. We have been researching safety tips and have introduced #dutyofcare.
As a security company we live to protect and have an active duty of care. We wanted to create a safe space for those who need it. Our office is here for you if you ever feel threatened or unsafe in the Wolverhampton/Chapel Ash area. Just walk through our doors and we will provide you with a safe space.
Something as simple as being there for someone in their time of need can change a person’s life.
After sharing #dutyofcare, we began researching safety tips and simple steps that we could share with our community.
Here are a few safey tips we found helpful:
REGISTER YOUR PHONE NUMBER WITH 999
Text the word Register to 999, this allows you to text emergency services in case you are ever in a situation where you cannot talk on the phone. If an emergency is happening it is always best to call as it would be quicker, but this SMS system is in place in case you cannot speak on the phone.
CLICK YOUR POWER BUTTON 5 TIMES TO RING EMERGENCY SERVICES
In iPhone settings search EMERGENCY SOS, you can set up for your phone to call 999 for you when you click your power button 5 times. It will also notify your emergency contacts that you are in danger.
SET UP A BUDDY SYSTEM IN YOUR WORKPLACE
If you travel alone to work or commute, speak to your managers or teammates. You can create a list of everyone’s routes to and from work. This allows you to find similarities in routes and colleagues can buddy up on their way home. This would also work out for a great carpool system.
THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK
The next time you are having a conversation that may not be appropriate, think about what you are about to say and how it could possibly make someone uncomfortable or offend them.
We are so lucky to work alongside some amazing people, and we understand we may not be able to change the world, but we can make a change in our community. We hope these tips have been helpful, they have been tried and tested in our own office and most take less than two minutes to set up.
